I’ve been really lucky in my travels from the last year as I had the opportunity to travel in the British Airways clubworld section on their flights a few times. The flights on which I travelled in Clubworld (or business class), have all been quite long flights so I had the chance to eat, sleep and experience everything that British Airways had to offer before arriving at my destination. The trips I took were to and from Johannesburg and also on the way out to Las Vegas.

On these flights I’ve always loved my journey so I’ll talk through the highlights of what Clubworld has to offer.

  1. The seats. You’re in a sort of pod where they have two almost facing each other with a little divider which you can keep open or closed depending on if you’re with someone you want to talk to, or if you’re travelling solo and just want a bit of privacy it’s really discreet to slide up with the touch of a button. The seat can slide all the way down so you’re lying flat and there is also a foot rest in front of you which you can adjust so you have your own bed. Basically, the seats are a dream to sit in and you can adjust them a lot to get as comfy as possible. You are also provided with a nice thick blanket and a pillow and I saw so many people just get on the plane, pull their blanket up and just go straight to sleep for what looked like the whole flight. The seat itself is actually quite large too, so you can roll over without being squished against a wall, which is nice.

2. The food. You are delivered a menu to your seat with a choice of food and the flight attendants come round and ask what your preference is. There’s a choice of starter, main and dessert too. I think the main difference with the food in Clubworld is that you have proper plates and cutlery and it actually looks like a really nice meal rather than the cardboard meals you sometimes get on flights. Because the flights were all long haul I always had two meals, a dinner meal about an hour after we were on the plane and then a breakfast about an hour before we landed which was really nice as it helped to get your body in the time zone a little bit.

3. The little freebies. When you get on the flight you are offered a little travel bag full of Elemis products as well as useful travel items such as an eye mask, toothbrush and earbuds. You are also pretty much waited on for anything and the flight attendants are always passing by offering you a drink so you don’t feel like you are having to bother them. On long flights, I always like to walk around and stretch my legs and there’s a little kitchen set up with a fridge where you can help yourself to snacks. Little things like packets of sweets, some sandwiches and drinks too so obviously I made a few trips to stock up on some sweets and things.

4. The entertainment. Everyone on a British Airways flight has access to the entertainment system which I actually really love. The TV shows and films are really up to date and you can also play games and track the flight which is the pretty usual stuff. I always start a flight determined to catch up on the latest films that I’ve missed in the cinema, and one of the series that I watched on a recent flight was Big Little Lies and I literally fell in love so thanks British Airways for introducing me to that new obsession!

Flying Clubworld is really fun and I’m so happy I got to experience it especially on such long flights. Just got first class to tick off the list now 😉
